In early May we start preparing the patch for planting. The grass is turned over using a plough to prepare the seed bed ready for drilling.
The drill uses GPS to plant the seeds. This makes them equally spaced to ensure every inch of the patch in planted.
10 - 14 days later, the first small green leaves (cotyledons) start to appear.
Fast forward 4 - 6 weeks and the pumpkins are established and starting to ripen.
Within a month the beautiful orange flowers start to appear, which is the beginning of the plants starting to produce their fruit (PUMPKINS).

Parking is available at the patch and is on hard standing,. Please keep in mind during wet weather our field can become muddy and we reserve the right to close the patch if weather conditions make the site unsafe. NO BOOKING NEEDED and entry to the patch is £5 per car with NO TIME LIMIT

The weather is quite often changeable in October, so come ready with your boots and a coat, remember that this is an outdoor event, we will not close if it rains (unless there are exceptional weather conditions). Gloves are quite useful too as some of the pumpkin stalks can be quite prickly!

We will have a plentiful supply of wheelbarrows so you can take your hoard to the car. One barrow per group please. Barrows may not be taken off the site.

Yes, the pumpkins are edible so why not make some soup or pie when you get home? Please note, there might be other wild fruit growing in the patch. These are not to be eaten. If you are unsure, please check with one of the farmers and we will be happy to help!
Yes, there are toilets and a Baby Changing Table can be found in the disabled toilet.
No, we have lots of Halloween themed displays but this is not a scare event.
We politely ask only food and drink purchased at the patch is consumed at the patch.
